Kenya

Kenya, officially known as the Republic of Kenya. This jewel of a country has the equator running through the midst of it and is conveniently located in the center of the East African community. Similarly to other coastal east African countries, it has a beautiful stretch of coastline and a low land plateau that climbs up into the Kenyan highlands. To the North, the northern frontier district is basically a semidesert. Kenya has the second-highest peak on the continent of Africa – Mount Kenya – which reaches a height of 5199 meters and is the site of permanent glaciers. Kenya has considerable land area diverted to wildlife habitats, the Masai Mara and Samburu National Reserves being just two of these. It also becomes home to the great migration for a few months a year, as these animals cross backward and forwards over the mara river from the neighboring northern Serengeti in Tanzania.

Between the beautiful waters of the coastline with its historic Portuguese and Arab settlements and the arid semidesert of the North, together with part of the great rift valley and the Aberdeen highlands, this country is many destinations in one. With many years of safari tradition and the hospitality to match, Kenya is truly a wonderful safari destination.
